This checkerboard is painted on an antique bread board in the style of the Pennsylvania Germans in the Mahontongo Valley area. Their style of painting is very distinctive and I used that inspiration to paint a checkerboard. My checkerboards are available for purchase by directly contacting me. Sizes of checkerboards may vary as they are painted on different sized antique bread boards. This board is approximately 18"X18". This one is for my own private collection but can be purchased on a different bread board for $125.00. I can also paint gameboards on solid pine and they are very distressed to look as old as the bread board ones. A solid pine game board of this design would be $85.00. My work has been chosen for the Early American Life Magazine Directory of Top 200 Traditional American Craftsmen for 2005 and 2007. My boards have also been featured in House & Garden Magazine, Town & Country Magazine and St. Louis Homes and Lifestyles.
